Christian Women in Governance Limited (ABN 73682374901) ("CWIG", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. We are a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and are based in Victoria, Australia.

This policy explains how we collect, use, hold and disclose your personal information, and how we handle it in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By using our website or providing your information to us, you agree to the handling of your information as set out in this policy.

What personal information we collect

The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with us. It may include:

• Your name, email address, phone number and postal address

• Your job title, profession, employer and professional background

• Your LinkedIn profile or other professional links

• A profile photo, where you choose to provide one

• Information about your church, denomination or ministry involvement

• Donation and payment details when you give to CWIG

• Records of your communications and dealings with us

• Information you provide through our forms, nominations and event registrations

Some of this is sensitive information under the Privacy Act — for example, information about your religious beliefs or affiliations. We only collect sensitive information with your consent, or where the law otherwise allows it, and we only collect what we reasonably need for our activities.

How we collect your information

We usually collect personal information directly from you — when you contact us, fill out a form, register for an event, make a donation, apply for or are nominated for our programme, or join the CWIG Network.

In some cases we may collect information from others, such as when a current member, participant or mentor nominates you. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure you are aware of this policy.

We also collect some information automatically when you visit our website, such as your IP address, browser type and pages viewed, through cookies and similar technologies.

Why we collect and use your information

We collect, hold and use your personal information to:

• Provide and administer our governance training programme and the CWIG Network

• Process and manage applications, nominations and scholarships

• Maintain our member directory (on an opt-in basis)

• Organise events, webinars and networking opportunities

• Process donations and issue receipts

• Communicate with you about events, resources and CWIG activities

• Respond to your enquiries

• Meet our legal, regulatory and reporting obligations as a charity

• Improve our website and services

We will only use your information for the purpose we collected it, for a directly related purpose you would reasonably expect, or where you have consented.

The member directory

Inclusion in the CWIG member directory is opt-in. We will only display your details where you have given permission. The directory is kept behind a password-protected area of our website and typically includes limited information such as your name, role or profession, a LinkedIn link and, if you choose, a photo. You can ask us to update or remove your details at any time.

How we disclose your information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may disclose your information to:

• Service providers who help us operate, such as our website, CRM, email, payment, event and form platforms

• Programme partners, including the Australian Institute of Company Directors, where relevant to your training

• Other members, where you have opted in to the member directory

• Government bodies or regulators where required or authorised by law

Some of our service providers may store data outside Australia. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the APPs.

How we store and protect your information

We hold your information in electronic systems and take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes password protection, restricted access and using reputable third-party platforms.

No system is completely secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described, or as required by law, and then take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong or out of date. We will respond within a reasonable time. There is normally no charge, though we may recover reasonable costs in some cases.

Making a complaint
